Trees and Lakes

We spent the morning driving around the beautiful autumn coloured countryside of the Canadian Eastern Townships. The scenery is stunning, the roads empty, and the crisp clear air was ideal for admiring the gorgeous trees in their autumn glory.

After lunch, we were welcomed by the Lennoxville quilters who had put up a lovely display of their quilts in their regular meeting place. We were given a demo of the Stack and Whack technique and then over tea and cakes there was plenty of intermingling between the quilters as many questions were asked about what quilts were popular in each country. It is such a shame that in this part of Canada, many of the quilt shops have closed. This is due to online and cross border shopping.

We had to get some fabric shopping fix! A quick stop was made at Fabricland, before going on to a vineyard for a tour and a wine tasting. This was well done and presented some unusual wine based drinks.

Now, after a very full day of sightseeing we are on our way back to our hotel, which is situated in beautiful grounds near a ski mountain, in a place called ORFORD, near STANSTEAD. Sounds familiar?

Did I mention the maple syrup pancakes with hot blueberries and strawberries for breakfast?

As you can see from the pictures we had another fabulous day. The weather is good and the scenery and colours are fantastic (plenty of inspiration for quilting) The itinerary is nice and varied and we are being looked after very well. Thanks for another lovely day.
